Artist Statement
I have a background in experimental filmmaking. Right now I am drawing and painting. Most recent paintings are created in series as tableaux vivants, non-narrative storyboards. This is “concept art” (not conceptual). An example of “concept” art that I love is is 30’s cartoons; but there are many others. Art-making aware of how the eye and brain process what we see in time is another example of concept art, and that is what I do.
These paintings are from a recent gedunken experiment, Life is Long Life is Short, a series of 32 paintings just shown at Time Space Limited- a close look at the world from first breath to last, and then some.
