Artist Statement
Old glass and its allures. Over a century old and still in perfect condition. Tanja McGivney is an artist inspired by the natural flow of light and reflections in her objects. Her choice of substrate is float glass and genuine metal leaves, using methods older than the glass itself. She removes any shackles from the image in her process. It is free to move as one moves, bouncing off light and highlighting different aspects. This creates a playfulness and whimsy. She draws from her eperience as a traditionally trained conservator. An exploration into the whimsical side of the fine arts to engage the senses. You can find her pieces at tanjamcgivney.com and @tanjamcgivney and you can view her restoration and conservation efforts at @tanjamcgivneyrestoration.
Tanja McGivney presents these works with the hope that you feel the peace and flow as she does when creating them.
