Artist Statement
As an abstract painter I have for many years been attracted to geometric systems that provide raw material for me to use subjectively. The spaces flirt with pattern and volume and then often deconstruct into an asymmetrical expressiveness.
The paintings give structure to something intangible, ephemeral, in- flux, or conversely, reveal the dissolving of structure that has been. My surfaces are increasingly transparent and contrast hard, linear edges against a diaphanous atmosphere. Materials are paper, wood and canvas or linen.
