Artist Statement

The paintings submitted are part of an ongoing series titled Fragmented Transparencies. Each work features a single color field that is brought to life through the accumulation of transparent and opaque layers in various forms—straight, zigzag, and curvilinear. These layers interact with the base color, suggesting spatial depth, but intentionally maintain a shallow field, creating tension within the visual space.

Each form is painted one at a time, responding to the previous one and carrying its unique nuances, textures, and accidents of application. As these shapes evolve and inhabit the canvas, they never become repetitive patterns. Instead, they continually transform, sometimes colliding, sometimes connecting, and at other times coalescing.

Through this process, layers of monochromatic transparencies and subtle tonal variations begin to resonate with light. This dynamic interplay activates the surface of the painting, giving it a luminous and immersive presence.
