I begin work using a photograph, the photograph acting as a catalyst to recall a memory or moments. I first create small square color sketches with pastel or watercolor to understand the colors, shapes, and lines of a moment. Once a general scheme is made I use the photo and the color sketch to contextualize the memory, and begin rendering a larger canvas, usually in oil. I piece together each shape and color, each move impacting the next, quickly resolving themselves onto the surface

My paintings immortalize moments. I paint my friends, family, and lovers as we experience life. My work explores these concepts as I perceive them and invites the viewer to share in the experience. I am often drawn to the everyday, the monotonous and mundane activities and things which encompass our every day life. These things can be as unimportant as a denim shirt, or as cherished as those I love very dearly. What is important is that each of these moments are human; moments frozen in time and tangibly accessible for everyone who wishes to share the experience
